The Coach House Diner Hackensack is owned and operated by George and Vivien Pappas who can be found mingling with customers and overseeing operations seven days a week. Patrons come in as customers and leave as friends.

I don't know about the Hackens...

I don't know about the Hackensack, NJ location but the Coach House Diner in North Bergen, New Jersey practices segregation. I went there with my friend because I like their salad bar a lot and noticed the waitress was seating the "white older people" in the front of their restaurant/diner while me and my friend as minorities were seated in the back of the diner with the other minorities, blacks, puerto ricans etc. My friend said she noticed the same thing also when we were there and that she also noticed a "minority person" asking to be seated in the front of the restaurant only to be told it was reserved and then later within minutes the waitress later seated a white person in that area. I do not know if this is their usual practice or only during when that waitress is working. This diner might as well put a whites only or jews only sign in their restaurant as i have never heard of reserved seating in a diner.
