Founded in 1987, and going online in 1998, Studio 46 is a family owned and operated business located in Hackettstown, NJ. We are well regarded in our local community. Many families, over the years, have not only entrusted Studio 46 and our superb staff with the responsibility of musically educating themselves and their children, but have made us a viable and respected institution. We are grateful for the thousands of personal recommendations to our staff, and to our studio. We hope to share our enthusiasm of music education and provide some resources to music students everywhere in our web site. The Studio 46 Music Study Center is located in Hackettstown, New Jersey. After renovating an old movie theatre and building studio rehearsal units, we first opened our doors in 1987, with only two instructors and a few dozen students. We are the first music school in the area to be founded as a school system, not as an addendum to a retail music dealership or a "rock school philosophy". We remain different because music education has always been and will always remain our primary goal. We offer a wide variety of study programs on most instruments and voice. Our instructors are among the finest in the area; many with over thirty years teaching experience! And our staff is united in one key way: Our love of teaching the Music Arts. We are not bound by a bigger organization with programs and methods (often at ridiculous costs). WE DO NOT OFFER A CURRICULUM that requires special instruments or methodologies... no special classes that promise so much and yield so little. The staff at Studio 46 takes the time to teach EACH STUDENT AS AN INDIVIDUAL. Our add-on classes in theory and technique are recommended ONLY when the student is ready for them and ONLY if the student wants them! In effect, we offer the most customizable music education available and we keep the cost low for an excellent music education by doing so! If you have some experience in music and your instrument, Studio 46 makes it possible to study key areas of your musicianship with low-cost private instruction, rather than classroom studies! For example, a keyboardist can take private lessons in chord approaches and fake-book reading, or a guitarist can study specific areas of technique such as finger-picking or whammy-bar techniques with a simple enrollment for private studies. As an alternative, low-cost classes for these disciplines are available for already enrolled students who wish to add them in addition to their private lessons.
