Washington County Public Schools, located in Hagerstown, Md., operates elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. The schools offer educational and extracurricular programs to students in grades kindergarten through 12. More than 20,000 students are enrolled in over 45 facilities, administered by a staff of nearly 2,500 staff members. The schools offer various subjects, such as English, computer science, business, technology, American history, mathematics, social studies, science, music, art, and health and physical education. The elementary schools focus on the development of reading, writing and mathematical skills of their students. The schools also offer a variety of sports activities, including baseball, softball, football, soccer, basketball and volleyball. The parent-teacher associations involve parents in various community activities to aid the educational process.
