Community Mediation, Inc ( CM ), established in 1980, is the oldest community-based mediation program in Connecticut. We provide mediation and other conflict resolution services in the greater New Haven area and training throughout Connecticut. Staff and trained volunteers empower individuals, families, organizations and communities to resolve their own disputes. We also collaborate with a wide range of organizations. Community mediation can help with many types of conflicts or refer parties to more appropriate agencies. Mediation is the use of trained neutral third parties to help people resolve their conflicts themselves. Mediators help the parties express themselves, listen to each other, and work together to develop a solution that meets everyone's needs. Mediators do not give advice, make suggestions, give legal advice, or decide who is right or wrong. Mediation is confidential and completely voluntary.
