The Fat Robin Wild Bird and Nature Shop is an independently owned and operated family business. We opened in April 1995 and cater to backyard birders and bird feeding enthusiasts as well as advanced birders. Everyone here at The Fat Robin is knowledgeable about backyard bird feeding and optics and is ready to answer your questions. ( If we don't know the answer, we'll get it for you! ) After being in business for so many years we decided to offer our products and advice to others who might not be so lucky to have a quality bird feeding or nature store nearby. We provide the same advice and service we deliver to our everyday long time customers! We offer the expert advice you need to help you choose the product that best suits your needs. The Fat Robin is independently owned and operated by Jim and Carol Zipp who are also avid birders as well as backyard bird feeding enthusiasts. Carol has a degree in biology from UCONN. She has worked in environmental education and also as a naturalist at the Hungerford Center in Kensington, CT. Ryan our son has been working part time here for almost 12 years and has become quite knowledgable about bird feeding, birds in general and binoculars and spotting scopes as well. He recently graduated Fairfield University.
