Provided by YP.comI am a relatively new client but I have to say that this group of individuals will go above and beyond for their clients, established or new.
Mt. Carmel vet is staffed by experienced, seasoned staff. They are compassionate to a fault.
If you need a vet. Dr. Kristilee Stewart and her staff is an excellent place to go.

Provided by YP.comThis is long overdue. I saw the doctor tending to pets at the shelter when I was there looking to adopt one- I was touched. Shortly after, I brought my new kitty to them and immediately felt comforted- Dr. Stewart and her assistant remembered him from the shelter even from months prior. They are attentive and caring. I follow their website for all their rescue stories It’s reassuring to know they are so passionate in making a difference. I’ve now been bringing my cats now for 5 years and have always received thoughtful care & support to our animals.

Provided by YP.comI’ve been coming for years and have seen all of the vets- they all are great (I don’t agree with the complaints below AT ALL but you can't please everyone, some are just crotchety). The front desk is polite and pleasant and everyone seems very knowledgeable. My cat started acting odd on a Saturday and I called to get him in, they were closing soon but they fit me in and stayed later to help me. The vet called me later that night to talk about blood work (she had checked online to get the results sooner than have me wait until Monday) and it showed some problems. She said he needed treatment before Monday so she met me the following day at the clinic even though they were closed! Because of their dedication, compassion and willingness to help, my cat is still here. We are forever grateful.

Provided by YP.comMy ‘ole man started to have walking and then eliminating problems. I was told arthritis and then urinary infections. Mt Carmel was the third opinion- they took an xray right away and diagnosed the problem that day. Although sad, the doctor was compassionate and thorough with giving us our options. The whole staff was great during the chemo and they made every experience personal, which made it less terrible for us and Suny. When it too much for Suny, she came out to the house to allow him to leave us in the comfort of his normal surroundings and family. Thank you for all your help Dr. Stewart and staff.

Provided by YP.comLast summer I had to take a cat that I was petsitting in- she is very old, was drooling, not eating, looked skinny- I and the owner was worried for the worst. I don't live around Hamden but they use Mount Carmel- they saw me the same day I called and the doctor actually stayed later into her lunch break for me. minutes she diagnosed her with bad teeth & plucked a rotten tooth in front of me! She called my boss on speaker phone to discuss the teeth, running bloodwork and a do a future dental cleaning but promised this wasn't Boop's final day & she'd have a better night. Boop ate as soon as she got home! Then recently my roommate's girlfriend got him a cat but it was in rough shape. I told him to bring him to see Dr. Stewart and she got him fixed up in no time. She even texted them a picture of the kitty resting comfortably after the neuter. Unfortunately my roommate developed allergies within a few months and couldn't keep him so they tried to rehome him. They weren't having luck even with shelters but I told him to call Mount Carmel. They totally understood and took him in. The receptionist mentioned Dr. Stewart helped rehomed over 20 pets (most of them with issues) so it shouldn't be too hard to help my roommates cat. They called in a few weeks to give us the good news that he had been adopted in a good home. 3 out of 3 times of great service!

Provided by YP.comI went to the ER shortly after moving here since I didn't have a regular vet yet. The ER vet, Dr Stewart, calmed me down & hinted that a regular vet would be cheaper so I visited her at the regular practice even though I saw some not so great reviews (which in hindsite aren't helpful). She squatted down to relax him, blanket on the table so he couldn't slip/freak out on the metal, all my questions & more were answered.I got handouts but forgot 1 so the nurse even called to email it me. They called a few days later to check up too. I've seen the male vet too- both are pleasant & knowledgeable. Dr Stewart cracks jokes but knows her stuff & is current. She had practical advice but discussed a several options, I asked her about my internet search & although she quickly responded w/a "Dr. Google" warning (I can only imagine how often vets get us diagnosing our pets issues), you could tell she really cares about what she does, takes it seriously & wishes only the best. She's forward, honest & confidant so maybe some might not handle her advice or bad news well? Or dealing w/ a strong woman? Now if it were a man it'd be ok...I digress. I've unfortunately gone a bunch with both my pets- each time just as good: every appt is thorough & personable, the place is quaint, clean & has a neat personal vibe- "going green", do acupuncture & possibly herbs & I love that they rescue/adopt out mice. Comparing to other vet offices at home, ER or seeing friends' places, their customer service is pretty good- greet immediately, they don't make people wait for them if they are on the phone- they ask someone to help who's on hold (bravo! someone else gets it that being on hold sucks), they are patient but efficient w/calls, I've never been rushed, every appt ran on time & I was touched by a euthanasia sign to alert everyone to be quiet & respectful. The prices are fair since pets/healthcare aren't cheap but I have friends who complain about their vet's prices so they hopefully will try here.

Provided by YP.comDr. Stewart and the staff are amazing! I recently had an emergency with my sweet Bella. I called in hoping to come rite down, the receptionist was great and helped me calm my nerves and had me come strait down. Later I found out Dr. Stewart worked through her lunch just to make sure Bella was ok. Money was tight during Christmas season so they even helped me out with bringing the cost down! I can't recommend this place enough! One word Amazing!
