Established in 1995, SELF, also known as Supports to Encourage Low-income Families, is a private, nonprofit, community action agency that helps low-income families to obtain employment, maintain employment and build assets for self-sufficiency. It offers employment transportation services to those who find jobs are able to keep them. The agency s Individual Development Account (IDA) program helps low- to moderate-income families achieve home ownership and higher education through matched savings accounts. SELF works in partnership with the Ohio Department of Development, Butler County United Way and Spaulding Foundation. In addition, it provides utility assistance to unemployed and those with low-paying jobs. The agency is located in Hamilton, Ohio.
