The Department of Transportation and Development, also known as DOTD, is operated by the government of the state of Louisiana. The department operates systems engineering, traffic engineering, intermodal transportation and project development divisions. It is responsible for the inspection of construction projects, dams and water wells. The department offers traffic planning and road and bridge maintenance services. The Department of Transportation and Development also provides roadway striping, mowing and litter pickup services. In addition, the department works to improve geotechnical design and construction practices. It administers the Change Management Program and customer service center. The Department of Transportation and Development has undertaken Perkins Road and Huey P. Long Bridge widening projects.
