Quiet, comfortable with Hilton quality in a smaller hotel

After a nightmare with a competitor that has "Quality" in its name, it was a relief to stay here. Great bed and room accessories with lots of power outlets for the toys made it easy to relax. Definitely coming back to this property next time I'm here.

Worst Night Ever

A severe storm in Hampton Roads hit this Thursday (November 12th) and our power went out. Our power went out on Thursday at 2:30pm. We stayed in our home Thursday night, in hopes of the power returning throughtout the night. It did not. We have a 19 month old daughter and it was too cold to stay again. We made reservations at the Hilton Garden Inn for Friday night. We reserved a King Evolution Jr Suite. My 19 month old ender up sleeping between me and my boyfriend because the had no available cribs. I woke up around 2:30am with SEVERE itching sensations. The itching continued and it got worse as the night went on. I finally got out of bed at 7am to shower. I was COVERED in bites from my shoulders to my ankles. I took pictures to show the staff, so something could be done about the problem. After my daughter woke up, I went to put her in the bath, she kept saying "boo-boo mommy, boo-boo". She too was covered in bites, mostly on her abdomen, chest and back. There was no manager there, so I had to call back after 3pm that day to report the problem. Talked to the assistant GM, and she did nothing but pretty much deny her hotel had any bug problems what so ever. After my boyfriend and I discussed everything, we decided to spray down our bed at home, our suitcases, dry clean our coats again, and wash anything that we brought in the room with hot water. We returned to the hotel at 6pm that evening to speak with the manager again. We asked for a refund/partial refund of the $145.77 we spent on our ONE night there to cover the expenses to spray and treat our home/belongings. We even offered to provide recipts of what we bought to treat our stuff, yet she still denied. She got rude, and even replied once stating, "I am going to say this as sensitive as I can, WITH my manager tag on, I am not refunding you nothing when I do know if you brought something in my hotel or if my hotel even caused any of this." I have NEVER had this problem at home, nor at any of the hotels I have ever stayed in in my lifetime. This was my absolute WORST experience EVER at a hotel, dealing with the people and my family and I getting ate up by bugs. It was disguisting and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I would not put a prisoner through a night of what me and my daughter delt with. I do not know of any other hotels to recommend around here, since I live in this city and was just staying due to a power outage, just NOT this one. Hope your stay is better then ours.
