The Hanahan Police Department works to provide a safe and secure environment, safeguard lives and property, preserve peace, and maintain law and order. It maintains an operations division that is comprised of patrol, K-9, traffic safety, investigation and bicycle patrol units. The department s administration division operates records, communication, animal control and community services units. The Hanahan Police Department also has a victim services unit that provides assistance to crime victims. It maintains a crime prevention unit that conducts neighborhood and community watch programs, as well as operates a citizens police academy. The department supports the Explorer Post program, which provides bike safety courses to youths. In addition, the Hanahan Police Department hosts ride along and School Resource Officer programs. It is located in Hanahan, S.C.
