Powerhouse Funding is a new company started by Robert (Robby) Clarke who was formerly with Direct Finance Corp in Norwell and Hanover. Clarke talks a good game but is a con man. He has recently come out of bankruptcy, has had several foreclosures and has ripped off several former employees at Direct Finance Corp. He was also unable to originate loans for a period of time due to violations of state and federal regulations. Most people in the industry do not trust him and has someone who has had dealings with him, I wouldn't trust him either. He will always try to talk you into buying the highest priced home possible. He will tell you houses double in value every 8 to 10 years so you will have more equity if you buy a more expensive house. He will also tell you that he can do loans that local banks can't. Don't fall for it. As a mortgage broker, Powerhouse Funding is subject to investor guidelines and therefore, he has no influence on the lending decision. A local bank is always your best option as they are more likely to make exceptions. DON'T TRUST ROBBY.
