My husband, John P. Barrett, Jr., retired from the National Guard after 21 years of service. As he was suffering with cancer, he requested military honors at the cemetery. Hanover Township Amvets Post 59 sent a buglar, Mike Truskowski. The service was so honorable and dignified, and the playing of Taps, first to the crowd and then off into the distance, was very moving. Thank you, Mike, and the Amvets Post 59 for a beautiful sendoff! Sincerely, Nancy Barrett (Mrs. John P. Barrett, Jr.)

AMVETS Post 59 is a federally chartered veterans' organization. It helps area veterans recieve the care they deserve from the local VA center and supports the local ARMY reserve center in all they do. AMVETS (American Veterans) is open to all honorably discharged military personnnel and members who are still serving in any branch of the military including the national Guard and Reserves. If you are Honorably discharged or Still Serving YOU belong at the AMVETS.

Greatest military and community organization in the Wyoming Valley area in my opinion.
