I had a very similar encounter with Rick - the condescending control freak snob. His customer relations skills are horrible, and he treats you like a burden to his time. But there are a couple nice workers here too. I cannot believe they never do returns. Seriously? This is supposed to be such a modern, professional store. Just steer clear of Rick and you'll leave reasonably happy.

I went to Bicycle World with a problem with my rear tire, which kept getting blowouts. I spent $25 on a new tire, $17 on tire liners, and $6 on a tube. With tax, the total was $51.93. I was having trouble getting the tire on the rim and asked Rick for some help. He started to help me, but then said I needed to step away from the counter because a customer might come in and I would be in the way (as if I was not a customer). I told Rick that I come to Bicycle World because the other guys who work there have always been helpful, but I would go to a department store or order parts online if there will be no service with the sale. It shouldn't be difficult to find people in Harlingen to teach me about bike repair and shouldn't be difficult to buy parts and accessories at a department store or some other source. There is really no reason to go to a place with people like Rick who don't understand the concept of service after a sale. I got the tire on the rim myself, so did not have to return it, but I will buy tires, tubes and other parts and accessories somewhere else in the future.
