Quality Insights of Pennsylvania serve as the Medicare Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs) in the state. Under QIO contracts with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the firm partners with and serve as a resource to health care providers and community organizations, thereby protecting the rights and improving the health of Medicare consumers. It collaborates with hospitals and nursing homes to address areas of patient harm for which there is evidence of how to improve safety by improving health care processes and systems. These entail reducing the incidence of MRSA infections, pressure ulcers and physical restraints while improving inpatient surgical safety and heart failure treatment and drug safety. In addition, Quality Insights of Pennsylvania conducts prevention programs, including adult immunizations, cancer screenings, education & training, care management and Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI).
