Rental Nightmare Becomes a Reality

I moved into my apartment at 234 Susquehanna Ave in Enola back on February 8th. I first contacted Richard Contes in the middle of March regarding a tree that was falling down on the corner of the property and it was hanging right over my motorcycle. He told he would notify the owners of the property about the tree because they would be the ones to take care of it. About a month went by and I didn’t hear anything from him so I decided to call and check on it. He explained to me that the owners said that it was not on their property and there was nothing they could do about it. In addition There was mold growing in the bathroom and in the second bedroom.

The worst part of this whole experience occurred once I moved out. Angela told me over the phone that I would receive my security deposit back once I left the place clean and without damages. She emailed me back and forth regarding the security deposit and eventually she said that she would be keeping my security deposit due to me not providing 60 days notice. Angela told me she would be charging me $1,580 for terminating my lease. I had given her 40 days notice that I would be moving out due to the mold, which was a health concern for me being Asthmatic. I believe that 40 days was ample time given the circumstances. In addition I had found a qualified tenant and sent them to fill out and application with Richard. The person had told me they called and could not get ahold of anyone because that person was out of the office for 10 days. This was not my problem as I had found them and showed them the house and it was up to Susquehanna Realty to do the rest. Angela said she could not even send my deposit disposition form through email, which she finally did, after asking her 6-7 times. This was by far the worst rental experience I have ever had! I do not recommend renting form this company or from Neil and Sherri Mahon. You will be out of money and will truly regret it like me!

This company fails to serve the tenant in just about all phases of renting. Contacting property managers is a nightmare, even with their automated phone call system. The business "opens at 9am", I have never been able to contact a representative before 10am. This company is trouble and I advise you think twice before signing a contract.

Horrible company

We've been renting from them for over two years. They do not fix anything. When they do fix something they fix it wrong or they break more than they fix. The property owners do not care as long as they get their rent and the property managers do not care. We had a change of property manager and thought it would be different but it's exactly the same. The same things get reported month after month and nothing gets fixed. And it is not a dump that we live in if that's what you're thinking would pay over $1200 a month to live there. The managers and the property owners are classic slumlords. Avoid this company if you can. Unfortunately we believed what they told us and now it's too much trouble to move because the location is convenient. However it will get to the point where the location doesn't matter because were so fed up. Avoid dealing with this company at all costs.

Worst Experience Ever

SRM is a joke. They manage the large mobile home park where we live and DO nothing far as maitaining the property, maitenance issues, snow removal, or any problems at all that occur. Your lucky if they even call you back, and we have been forced to solve or fix problems on our own continually. And spend our own monies doing so as they are contracted to manage and maintenance and do nothing they are contracted to do.

I have had a horrible expe...

I have had a horrible experience with this company. Could be luck, could be them. I think it's a little of both. I am sure I am a smaller account for them, which is why they blow me off. But it's not right. I have had HORRIBLE experiences with the tenants in my property. I do not feel they do a thorough job in actually managing the property. Their lack of attention to management, paired with some bad experiences with tenants has lead to a very unpleasant experience. Lots of "miscommunication" and errors made on their part. And lots of money lost from my bank account. DEFINITELY LOOK ELSEWHERE for a property manager.
