I have 30+ years’ experience as a real estate broker in the greater Woodstock Vermont area and neighboring New Hampshire and have owned or managed three successful real estate companies. In the early 80’s I joined the family real estate firm when the real estate company was one of the larger real estate firms in the Upper Valley. I cut my teeth in the business by helping second homeowners find their vacation getaways in Quechee Lakes and representing primary homeowners in the surrounding Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire. Over 30+ years, I have become well acquainted with the requirements of second homeowners, vacation home ownership and investment properties. As a result, I am a skilled advisor in real estate transactions. When Buyer Brokerage first appeared in Vermont I was an early adopter, at a time when the majority of other Vermont/New Hampshire agents looked on the practice with distrust. Buyer Brokerage, in which a real estate agent represents the buyer’s interests (and not the seller’s), is common practice now. I was also the primary real estate educator selected by the Upper Valley real estate brokerage community to coach and educate local brokers into the “digital age” when we transitioned from the old, twice a month black and white Multiple Listing Service (MLS) book to a new, computer driven MLS. That seems like ages ago! Over the course of my long career in Vermont and New Hampshire real estate, I have successfully guided clients through hundreds of transactions and have seen thousands of Upper Valley homes. I am technically savvy, an innovator, a great listener, and a superb client advocate. I sell properties that run the gamut from über high-end luxury homes, to primary homes for the everyday working person. Recent sales include a number of multi-million dollar transactions in the Woodstock area. I hold the nationally recognized Graduate Realtor Institute certification (GRI), the Accredited Buyer Representative designation (ABR) and I am an exceptional client-based negotiator. I earned my B.A. in Psychology starting at Middlebury College and finishing at the University of Vermont, with a de-facto minor in Religion, Counseling, and Philosophy. I am a fully invested father of nine and my lovely wife Donna-Lee and our family have lived in Hartland, Vermont since 1983. I was a member of the United States Ski Team back in the “Dark Ages” of the late 70’s and was the United States National Ski Jumping Champion (1978) and am in the U.S. Ski Hall of Fame. I skied in the Lake Placid Olympics as the lead test jumper to make sure the hills were safe (read DANGEROUS). I actively "give back" locally and serve on the Woodstock Ski Runners Board, as a Track Coach at Woodstock Union High School (WUHS) and am on the Race Committee for Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, VT100 Ultra-Marathon. I am a big supporter of the WUHS cross country running, track and nordic ski teams and am involved in my local church.
