The Department of Urban Development is a division of the City of Hattiesburg. It provide services and information related to planning, zoning, land development, permits, building inspections, code enforcement, neighborhood development and the Action Center. The department also provides floodplain management services, pertaining to flood warning system, flood insurance, floodplain development as well as drainage system maintenance and prohibiting stream dumping. The Department of Urban Development demonstrates the legal, administrative and implementation authority relating to the built environment within the city.
