In the 90's my wife and I joined UCC, which became DirectBuy eventually. We belonged to Hauppauge store. At the beginning we were told we have to pay a one time fee of around $1200, we joined and bought a few items. It was always a bad expierience ordering any thing from them and the 2 owners were never any help. Everything was very unorganized and when you called to talk to someone they never called you back. The big dissapointment and blatant rip off came when they changed to Direct Buy and notified us that we would have to pay another So called "one time fee" of $3000 which was a discounted price to rejoin, and this is after we paid $90 per year for the UCC membership for many years. When we called and questioned this they acted as if they didn't care about loyal past customers This whole operation is a scam and they feed all there customers with a line of BULL to get them to join. I hope the Better Business Beareau or Dateline investigates them and exposes their shady business practices.

Thay totallty suck. Stay far away from Direct Buy -Suffolk. First they hit you with a high pressure sales pitch, the price is $5,000 to sign up and then when you try to order something, the item is often discontinued (you are ordering out of books that are several years old). If you are lucky enough to get an item that is in stock, the shipping costs will be so outrageous, it would be cheaper to buy it from a local store.
