Head Start is a national nonprofit organization that serves the developmental and educational needs of preschool children from low-income families. It is located in Havre, Mont., and its facility includes six classrooms and more than 10 offices. The program operates under District IV Human Resources Development Council that is a private nonprofit community action program. The organization serves individuals in Hill, Blaine and Liberty counties in Montana and provides several child care services, including skill development training, early childhood advocacy and education, parent education, special events planning, nutrition service, indoor and outdoor play and growth assessments. In addition, it provides language development training, educational field trips and special needs services.
