Debuting in 2013 with a grand reopening, the restored Volcano House will offer 33 historic guest rooms, a dining room, snack bar, lounge, and gift shop, along with cultural events and demonstrations. Volcano House also manages 10 newly refurbished camper cabins in the nearby Namakanipaio Campground. The refurbished Hawaiian hotel will also introduce environmental best management practices.

The newly refurbished dining room at Volcano House, which showcases spectacular views of steaming Halema‘uma‘u Crater, will provide an equally compelling new menu. Creative island cuisine will highlight the best of Hawaii Island’s bounty through seasonal specials. At least 95% of the restaurant’s meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables will be sourced from local ranchers, farmers and suppliers.

Guests can trek three miles beyond Volcano House to one of the most unique campsites in the world. Nestled amidst a eucalyptus forest, the historic Namakanipaio Campground offers a rustic, one-of-a-kind camping experience within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. For visitors seeking a camping experience with comfortable accommodations, the campground features ten Camper Cabins recently refurbished with new flooring and beds, along with campground facilities including a refurbished bathroom. Campsites are also available for visitors who prefer to pitch a tent for a more traditional adventure camping experience.
