The New York State Police, with a location in Hawthorne, N.Y., provides law enforcement services to the residents of New York. The department responds to emergency calls, accidents and other police-related matters. The New York State Police provides bike patrol, case investigation, gun registration, crime prevention and emergency readiness services. It has a criminal investigation bureau that has a staff of more than 1,000 personnel and investigates sexual exploitation, auto theft, violent and serial crimes. In addition, it has a training academy that serves more than 14,000 individuals each year and provides instruction in the areas of criminal investigation, forensics and other relevant issues. The New York State Police has been operational for more than 85 years.
