Hayward Unified School District offers various educational programs and services for guiding students' learning of subjects, inculcating skills and attitudes necessary to fulfill their potential, and training them to be lifelong learners. Its programs include a culturally based school project dedicated to the success of African-American students, and kids connect, a program that provides students in grades kindergarten through three interaction and playtime in a safe, secure atmosphere with a specially trained adult. It additionally provides a homework club, latchkey and Puente project programs, and alternative education programs that offer assistance to youths at risk of academic failure by providing supportive environments and opportunities for academic and social success.
