Care that starts at the front door The updated facility is nearly double the size and features a quicker, easier check-in process. To decrease wait times, a nurse will see you, take vital signs, and determine next steps in care. Patients who are experiencing life-threatening conditions are always given priority, and now people with minor injuries and illnesses can be super-tracked and rapidly triaged.  Super-track process for minor conditions People with minor illnesses or injuries can be “super-tracked” to receive care quickly. Four super-track beds are available to treat people with non-emergency conditions. Trauma care We now have a dedicated trauma room in our Level IV trauma center. It’s the only Level IV trauma center in lower Luzerne County and is accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation. We also work closely with the Level I trauma center at LVH–Cedar Crest through our telehealth program.  Cardiac care If you are experiencing heart attack symptoms, including chest pain, shortness of breath or pain in your arms, neck, jaw or back – call 911. We partner with LVHN’s other hospital locations in the award-winning MI Alert Program. If you have a heart attack, this program enables us to quickly identify the condition and transfer you to a partner facility with the resources to provide the best in treatment in 90 minutes or less. Stroke care Every second counts when it comes to stroke. Fast, aggressive care minimizes brain damage by ensuring adequate blood flow to the brain. That’s why you should always remember BE FAST. This acronym will help you remember the signs of a stroke and that you should act quickly. -Balance – Sudden loss of balance -Eyes – Blurred vision in one or both eyes -Face – Face drooping or looks uneven -Arms – One arm becomes weak or numb -Speech – Slurred speech or seems confused -Time – If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, call 911 immediately.   We are a Primary Stroke Center accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP). Our Stroke-Alert Program ensures that potential stroke patients are quickly assessed and undergo a CT scan in 20 minutes or less. Patients needing additional medical attention are transferred to a larger LVHN facility. Nationally recognized safe care LVH–Hazleton earned an “A” Hospital Safety Score from The Leapfrog Group.
