Jeff McCurdy is a life-long resident of DeKalb County, Alabama being raised in Henagar. He graduated from Sylvania High School in 1990, worked a full time job while going to Jacksonville University and receiving his undergraduate degree for secondary education in 1997. He returned to school to earn his masters in counseling and spent 12.5 years as a teacher, counselor and a coach. But his dream was to become an attorney. He began taking his law classes at the Birmingham School of Law in January 2005, 3 nights a week for 4 1/2 years and 13 straight semesters. He graduated with his juris doctorate in 2009 and passed the bar in 2010 and then established McCurdy Law Firm, LLC.
