Founded in 1972, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is one of the youngest and largest colleges in the Virginia Community College System, enrolling more than 17,000 students annually. The college operates three campuses serving residents in the city of Richmond and the counties of Henrico, Hanover, Goochland, Powhatan and Louisa in Virginia. It offers academic programs in accounting, architecture, automotive, biology, business management and administration, childhood development, computer science, dietetics, economics, engineering, emergency medical services, English, financial services, geographic information systems, horticulture, and industrial engineering technology. It also provides courses in mental health, marketing, natural science, philosophy, political science, practical nursing, real estate, sociology, Spanish, welding, and interpreter education dental assisting programs. The college is approved by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Located in Richmond, Va., it also conducts off-site and distance learning coaching classes.
