RIP OFF!

I lived here for a year and I was very happy to get out. Don't move here! The staff is incredibly rude, for the amount of money you spend you get VERY little back. The plowing/shoveling situation was SO BAD. Packages were tossed around and never organized or continuously lost. I only lived here, because it was the only place that seemed appropriate for a young professional in the Duluth area. I continuously had issues with my washer/dryer system. You have to let the staff know about 8 months ahead of time if you're resigning your lease. They WILL TAKE ALL OF YOUR DEPOSIT! Like I said, spend your hard earned money on a different location! Put two stars, because the electronic key entry was convenient - thats it.

Keep on looking

This is a terrible place to live. First off, last winter my heat wasn't working properly and was told because I was the only person with a problem, they weren't fixing it. My apartment did not get above 62 degrees all winter (and we had the second coldest winter in Duluth history, below zero average). Secondly, rent keeps going up and up while the people who work for this place keep getting more and more rude. My rent currently went up and they changed my account number for online payment without telling me, then charged me a late fee and will not waive it. I lived here my senior year in college and loved it however, know, I cannot wait to get out of this place. The price is not worth the amenities and rude staff. If I could give this place "0" stars, I would but I have to at least give one to submit this. I highly reccomend you look elsewhere for living arrangements.

Poor CARETAKING

RENT IS GOING UP AGAIN AND UPKEEP OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ARE HORRIBLE AND NOISE IS REDICULOUS. THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN KIDS ARE DOING THE WORK. HAVE CALLED AND COMPLAINED AND YET NOTHING DONE. POOR SHOVELING AND PLOWING MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO GET TO CAR. OUTSIDE GARBAGE BY ENTRANCES OVERFLOWING. IF YOU WANT TO CATCH UP ON YOUR SLEEP ON WEEKENDS, FORGET IT. PARTIES AND LOUD KIDS WAKE YOU UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY.

DO NOT RENT HERE

Horrible management, DO NOT rent here. I've had packages stolen, cold showers, and PAPER THIN walls. They haven't changed how they accept packages for their residents since I got mine stolen. Make sure to read their lease thoroughly because one of my friends took it to a housing attorney and he couldn't believe how illegal it was. They screw you over when they can, so be careful.

Save your money, they don't respect you

I have never lived in an apartment where I was basically micro managed and treated like a child. Like stated in the previous comment the apartments are cheaply made, paint chips, toilets always have problems, and paper thin walls. The staff is rude, stuck up, and treats you like you are incompetent. The rules to the lease are ridiculous, quiet hours begin at 10, but they will be at your door by 9:30. The amenities are more of a hassle. Work out room doesn't open until 7:30 and closes at 9, and they will not accommodate it to fit your schedule. The game room also has the same hours and you better not be to loud in there or you will also get another noise violation. The fines they have on their "rules" are out of control. Guests will get kicked out if the management feels they need to go.I was also told when I signed my lease that there would be only grad students no undergrads or college kids. That was a complete lie. I would never choose to live here again because the luxury isn't the apartment it's more like hell.

Save your money

I moved here thinking the new building and all the amenities would be great for a busy grad student such as myself. However, none of that has been the case. The apartments are cheaply made and I have barely gotten a chance to use any of the amenities listed. The work out room doesn't open until 8 am (in class by then) and then they kick you out at 9 pm (usually don't get home until after 10 pm). There is no garbage disposal and the only redeeming feature is the in-unit washer and dryer. The maintenance guy is very rude. Don't ever plan on having friends over because they will make up claims that they are receiving noise complaints and then try to fine you $750. Save your money and go live somewhere where you are treated with the respect you deserve.

Bad managment

Nice apartments but at the end of the year they will try to take as much of your security deposit as the can. In my case, one of our outlets kept on shorting out and we had them fix it but in doing so they made a hole in the wall. The manager said we wouldn't be charged but at the end of the year they charged us and when we asked them about it they were horrible rude and said they would have to ask corporate about it. Long story short we never heard from them again. They also charge $95 a person to clean carpets! These are only 2 examples but there are more that I wont list. The quiet hours are also a pain because you cant make a sound after 10:00 pm even after the weekends or they will fine you about $700.00. My room never got fined but others have.

For the money, there is better

I lived here for a year. Throughout the year they were constructing a new building next door. Every morning at 7 am I was woken up. The walls between rooms are okay but the windows must be poorly insulated. I can hear every word in the parking lot. It was constant noise. They promise grad student only in Summit but I there were undergrads. Packages get dropped off at the main office every once and a while but they never tell you that. The only positive is the maintenance man.

New Tenant

I'm new to Summit Ridge and I love it. I just read the reviews left by other and to be honest, I am surprised... Like I said, I'm new but my experience has been great. I was told that in the winter there were some problem with the heat and the water, they also said that it is because it is a new building and the kinks are being worked out. So hopefully this winter will be better. I love that I have the use of the Clubhouse for the pool and the tanning. Thank you for providing an alternative to living in a dumpy house.

management

We had some issues and contacted the front desk. The lady with long, dark hair was not helpful..rude. We get the feeling as if we are putting her out! Instead, we asked another manager. He's very friendly and helpful...the rest of the staff is nice. We avoid asking her for ANYTHING...we only deal with the gentleman and his staff. We had a very positive experience with apartment managers when we lived in the Twin Cities a far cry from here.

Not worth the $$$$

Summit Ridge was a brand new building with its first tenants occupying the building in July 2009. As one of the first tenants, I was excited to move into this new "luxury" building. The building is designed poorly. The bedroom in my 1 bedroom apartment is very small. It was tough to fit all my furniture in the room. The "Free" heat has gone off several times this winter and there have been several times I have not been able to shower with warm water. Who likes cold showers? The internet is slow and there are many times when it doesn't work. Half of the time I go to use the gym or tanning bed, there are no cleaning towels available so you can't even use the "luxuries" provided without the risk of acquiring germs. The only saving grace of this apartment complex is that I have a washer and dryer in my poorly designed bathroom. Consider other places before moving in here.
