They have had a plumbing problem for nearly three weeks. The owner/director has made NO attempt to fix this problem. The smell of sewage has been so bad that 2 children have gone home sick. Water from the pipe leak is constantly on the floor where the children play. This is just one of the several safety and health violations that this facility has. Things are patched up for state inspections and then let go when the coast is clear. I called to file a complaint this morning on the plumbing problem and was told that several other complaints had been filed over the last 6 months and that this facility was on probation. I am embarrassed to say that my child has been enrolled here. Fortunately , we are on a waiting list for another facility. I plan on removing my child and never looking back! Do yourselves a favor and find another center! ASAP!

Lets see where to start. The staff are untrained. The director is confrontational and defensive when problems or concerns are brought to her attention. Supplies come up missing on a regular basis. A daily supply log was created but is very seldom filled out, is never in the same place twice for parents to sign it and is never updated. The playground consists of mostly concrete which results in lots of scrapes and bruises when kids fall down. The toddler staff is untrained and unprofessional. They don't pay attention to the kids. I have heard teachers using foul language in front of the kids. They blare rap music during nap time. The director yells and screams at staff members in front of the kids. She bad mouths parents to other parents. She is rarely available when problems arise and when she is she is defensive and offers no solutions just excuses. The tuition is cheap but not worth it.

Keep looking

My daughter was enrolled in Kinderland Learning Academy for less than a month. I immediately took her out because her toddler teacher referred to her as a "big cry baby" because she would cry when I dropped her off. I did not like my 3 year old being talked to that way and being called names simply because she was getting used to a new place with new people and new routines. When I spoke to the director (it was Darlene at the time. Not sure if she is still there or not) she made excuses for the teacher and did absolutely nothing about it. I also showed up early (during the end of nap time) to pick her up one afternoon and there were NO teachers present. They were all in another area of the building and all the todds were unsupervised. One of them was awake and just wondering around. I saw on another yahoo review site that KLA has recently had 3 or 4 kids removed for lack of supervision and there are several complaints that have been filed with the state. There may be a positive review on KLA out there somewhere but personally I had a very bad experience with this center and I would strongly suggest researching it fully with the star rating system (currently 0 stars as of 9-17-09) and the complaint hotline before you make a decision.

Appreciative Parent

I have been very pleased with KLA as we have been there for many years. I have seen people come and go for silly reasons but I feel blessed to have my kids there. They do fun learning activities with them as well as outside play time. They are always welcoming to parents to come in and stop by anytime. They have a bunch of family functions to attend and are always trying to get family participation and support. I am very pleased with what my children are learning and the willingness of the staff to help out. I have toured many centers in Hermitage and Mount Juliet areas and have not found the qualities in other facilities that I found in this one. Most the staff has been there a very long time and they have cameras that parents can look at, at anytime. This is my opinion, hope this helps!
