Cottonwood School was founded in 1892 to serve the rural community twelve miles south of Bozeman, Montana. Today, we are one of three public Montessori schools in Montana and the only public Montessori school in Gallatin County. The school started as a one-room schoolhouse and still retains this intimacy. We meet all state standards while integrating an individualized Montessori curriculum.The philosophy of Cosmic Education is designed to help children search for their place in the universe and recognize the interrelatedness of all living things. Cottonwood School, we support this by integrating subject areas of the curriculum in a thematic approach.Cottonwood School was recently awarded a Quick Start Energy Grant to aid in "greening" the school.
