Founded in 1925, the Hialeah Fire Department is an ISO-rated class one fire department that provides fire protection and fire fighting personnel and equipment, emergency medical service, water rescue, hazardous material response teams and a variety of inspection services to industrial, commercial and residential property owners and citizens of Hialeah, Fla. The department is divided into five divisions: rescue and emergency medical services, fire prevention, logistics and emergency management, support services and training. Fire rescue operations personnel are assigned to 24-hour shifts working a 48-hour workweek. The department s nearly 300 member staff includes more than 160 paramedics, nearly 90 trained emergency medical technicians and approximately 30 civilian personnel.
