Ida Diaz Jr. High School, established in 1983, enrolls more than 700 students in grades six through eight. The school employs a staff of over 50 people. It offers instruction in English, science, social studies and math. The school provides programs in art, Spanish, technology, band and physical education. Ida Diaz Jr. High School also administers the English as a Second Language program. The school offers opportunities to participate in a book club and the National Junior Honor Society. It provides guidance counseling and tutorial services. In addition, the school offers participation in sports activities, such as cross-country, football, basketball, and track and field. It provides parental involvement programs. The school publishes a newsletter. Ida Diaz Jr. High School is governed by the Hidalgo Independent School District.
