My parents were both math teachers and my dad also coached football. So, I grew up dreaming of being a professional football player. Luckily, my mom suggested that if I wanted to have some good options for a career, I should work hard and do well in school. \n When I was in elementary school, my grandfather had heart surgery. And when I was a senior in high school, he died after a heart attack. I am certain that his heart disease had a lot to do with me choosing medicine and specifically cardiology as a career. \n I believe each and every patient I see is a special and unique individual, and I strive to give everyone the time and compassionate care they deserve. \n My wife is a nurse-we met during residency. She put her career on hold to raise our children. She and I are extremely proud of our three children (and our new son in law). When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife, hanging out with my golden retriever, traveling (usually to see our children in New York City and in Washington DC), and playing golf (not very well). I am passionate about sports and enjoy watching or attending sporting events such as football, basketball, baseball (including an occasional World Series game), and tennis (including the US Open).
