With cooperation from the city of High Point, the Macedonia Neighborhood Association was formed to give a voice and create a vision for this community. Areas of emphasis have been promoting safety, cleaning up a lot of abandoned homes, and creating solutions to crime and violence. The city of High Point purchased property in a four block area and conveyed it to Wesley Memorial Methodist Church. The church contributed 1.5 million dollars to the Macedonia Resource Center and worked with the city during the planning process for the entire revitalization of the community. United Way of Greater High Point also contributed a $500, 000 match to build the Macedonia Family Resource Center. The Macedonia Family Resource Center was incorporated as a non-profit in 2002 and opened its doors in August of 2003 to provide an array of programs and services for the residents of Macedonia and the general public. A twenty-seven member Board of Directors governs the center with equal representation from the neighborhood, Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, and the High Point Community at-large. The Board of Directors meets monthly. The Center is open from 8: 30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday - Friday to reach the maximum number of Macedonia and High Point residents "As I look to the future, I have every hope and do believe that the programs and services we offer, will help this community experience a rich and vibrant life, nurture exceptional families, and contribute to the overall wellness and health of the Macedonia neighborhood."
