The Orange County Department of Social Services provides preventive, supportive and restorative services to protect vulnerable children and aged, disabled and poor individuals. It offers the Food Stamp Program, which is a federal program and provides a monthly allotment of Food Stamp benefits issued via electronic benefit transfer cards that can be used like debit cards. The department s adolescent parenting program serves pregnant and parenting teenagers who are under 18 years of age. Its in-home aid services assist adults, children and their families with essential home management and personal care tasks. The department s veteran s services office assists veterans and dependents in obtaining, retaining and reinstating compensation, pension, medical, education, training, loan, insurance, burial and other applicable benefits and services.
