Kelley Designs,Inc., in Hilton Head, SC, and the owner Debbie Kelley turn out not to have the best reputation on many levels. I am sorry I did not write my own review sooner to help the people who have now written about their many problems. Probably this is good advise for anyone you do not know: think twice before I allowing strangers to your home if you are not present. The items she chooses are not what you would expect of a top-notch decorating services and she sure charges prices that should be. She is not concerned if you are happy or not. Her attitude is that you hired her, she will put what she wants. She is an absentee decorator. Just think before you hire her and I would suggest reading all the reviews about her before you make a decision. A word to the wise: check the criminal and civil records for any business you hire which has access to your home.

i ignore all i read about them andgive a try atleast and i wish just listen to them. all the feedbacka re true so you guys beware they are good in sale talking but not in services..

Be extremely cautious when hiring this company. I found that the work was horribly unprofessional. She works like this: You sign a contract, she shows you some cloth samples, you are forced to buy poor quality furniture for high prices. Its all subcontractors that do the actual work, and we where not satisfied at all with the results. There where problems with the whole system, and I do wish that we had chosen somebody else to do this.

Overall, not a very good experience, and I do not recommend her. Its really hit or miss, and I hope that she can get better in the future.

The best thing that I could ever say is that she has a very nice person working in her office but there is not much else good to add. It is strange because I did not write anything when she did this work for us but I was not happy. My neighbor was looking for a decorator and saw these reviews and asked me about her and when I told her it had been Debbie Kelley, she knew how unhappy we had been and asked why I did not write something myself so other people did not have the problems we had. So here I go. I wish I had had the good sense to look at these before we hired her. She is a chatty Cathy gossipy person if you are okay with that. I think unprofessional is the best descriptive word for her. I was never sure she knew what she was doing. It all seemed kind of trial and error. I would not recommend her. I think her work ethics are bad and I really disliked the way she bragged about herself all the time. I had to redo almost everything she did and I had a table which I am certain was damaged before it came here but I had no way to prove it. She refused to replace it. I think I could have done a better job myself looking in magazines.

I could not decide between two or three stars. I read these others that others wrote and I do agree with them. We were subjected to the same and hope to help others at least make a better and more informed decision than we.

Just bad is what I would say. A small amount of the items she got for us were nice enough but it is mainly her attitude. She just lets you know that you are stuck. And she is continually bragging about how great she is and her work is I guess because you are looking at something that is a long from great. When we let her know were displeased with some things she just looked away and would not look is in the eye. She is slow, slow and you have to tell her things three times because she does not remember. She gets personal phone calls while you are working with her which is irritating. She is always talking about how her other clients just love her and that they are her very best friends. I am not Impressed. I want good work and a beautiful job not someone who is trying to Impress me. We were going to hire her to do another job. End of story, we will find another.

Buyer beware. More than half of the furniture she got for us was of very poor quality and will not last even a few years. Four pieces were delivered damaged & we had no recourse. She does not listen at all to what you tell her you want. Her excuse is that as as decorator she must use her best judgment and that is what she did. What she charges you for clearly cheap-looking furniture is outrageous and you have absolutely no recourse. Her contractors are very unreliable and she expects you to supervise them, most having to be rescheduled as many as 4 times. Two different subcontractors complained and told me they have never had to work without the decorators present. It turned out she had actually retired several years back because she had gotten stressed out and had had it with interior design work, according to what she told me and was was "ready" to return. After being concerned because she would desperately need more money that week to place an order and never producing the furniture or invoices, we asked for them before we gave her money for a 3rd time. She refused to provide invoices at that time. She actually told me that asking her for these invoices and a budget was being nasty.

Debbie Kelley is not a professional interior designer if that is what you want. I am not even certain if she is an educated designer. You do not have to be in South Carolina. When I grew concerned about her apparent lack of professionalism and she told me she had been a school teacher and was a single mother and decided to get into interior design to make more money.

Be prepared to handle a large amount of the work yourself and be prepared to accept what she has decided you will get, contrary to what you asked for. Half of the items she delivered are beautiful and we love them but the other half is of very low quality and it is difficult to believe she thought she was getting us what we wanted.
