Provided by YP.comBUYER BEWARE! RTS Homes has illustrated really poor customer relations and they have proven to not be sympathetic or compassionate to the military community’s needs. RTS has failed to produce basic living services/utilities in a timely manner. The closing of our home occurred on 20 January, and some of the issues went unresolved until 01 April. My husband and I are dual military and we purchased on our home when I was 36 weeks pregnant. Shortly after, my husband deployed to Iraq and I was left to get the house in order. I soon found myself without mail service, trash service and internet service. The lack of mail service caused undue stress because I still needed to order and receive items for our unborn baby. It was not until I had to ask the post office to hold my mail that I was able to receive any kind of mail causing me to drive to the post office almost daily to retrieve the baby items as I was nearing my due date. It took about three weeks for the mail to actually arrive at my front door. The first time my trash was picked up was about six weeks after closing- causing unsanitary conditions. Additionally, I would have to go to the landfill during my last few weeks of pregnancy just to get rid of the trash that was accumulating in the garage. After my baby was born, I had to keep calling the local waste so that they could pick up my trash. As for my recyclables, it took over 10 weeks to get picked up.
Lastly, and most importantly, internet service was not provided out here until April 1st (mind you, we had closed on 20 Jan) because there were no lines installed to support the internet. The internet company had to bring their engineers out to do the installation. I had called RTS for some sort of compensation as I have had to assume additional costs (communicating with my husband overseas in Iraq and grad school usage) as a result of not having internet for what was to be a “move-in ready” house. Those costs are not only monetary, but affected my ability to have quality and sufficient time with my husband, and him with me and our first newborn, as well as my ability to properly manage my MBA studies online. I understand that these services may not have been within RTS’s control, yet it was in the sense of their planning to coordinate the building with the provision of these services and their infrastructure. Furthermore, RTS threatened to sue me if I choose to exercise my option of the First Amendment and write reviews on RTS’s lack of sympathy for their customers and those with specific military needs (e.g. communication with loved ones overseas). When I would address these issues with RTS homes, they would respond with unnecessary aggression and told me to hire an attorney because they were not going to do anything. Moreover, they have evaded responsibility by pointing at the developer for the services mentioned. RTS refused to take ownership of their ambiguous advertisement claim of, “move-in ready,” and their customer service was horrific. By far the worst I have seen. Unfortunately, they got their money through the closing of this house, but if there was a way to go back in time, we would have never purchased this home through RTS simply because of their poor customer service. I hope that no other military family has to go through what we did.
