I grew up in this area so I used to go to this store regularly to get little things like an ice cream or soda or something and I stop by if I'm visiting my family and need to buy a food item but don't want to drive to Houlton. I don't remember what their customer service was like when I was younger but I went there recently and was amazed at how rude and neglectful the staff were of customers. I only needed one thing to finish supper and found it then went to the counter. Nobody was there because there were about four people standing in the corner where they prep food talking and joking to each other and after a minute one of them told another that he had a customer. Another minute or so later he came over and I set my item on the counter and said, "just this, please"...he scanned it but didn't look at me or say anything. I gave him my money (he didn't even say how much it was) and he gave me my change so I said, "thank you." He still said nothing to me and didn't look at or acknowledge me but he did yell to another employee who was joking about something to a different employee...I almost said something but was so confused that they thought it was fine to act like that to and around customers that I wasn't exactly sure what to say. Plus, the man who rang me up was old enough to be my father and it feels a bit odd that I have to describe proper basic manners to someone older than me, especially someone working in customer service. If I was the store owner I'd have a good talk with my employees about how they should be acting. I gave them three stars simply because it is a convenient place to buy things in a rural area and the prices aren't bad but if I was able to separate out ratings they'd get a zero for customer service.
