My ten year old granddaughter, Nyah, has loved all animals, (especially horses) since she was old enough to pat something furry. In the fall of 2017 I took advantage of a special "new riders" package at Chase Farms and now every week she continues with her lessons there. Last Thursday after a lesson riding "Jake" (who likes to trot fast in the rink which thrills her) she said, "Nana, it so much easier now to post and feel in control of the horse." She has learned this skill from her talented instructor, Morgan, who not only is an excellent teacher, but who also understands the balance between gaining confidence and being challenged. Morgan introduces new techniques only after the riders have become proficient and comfortable with the previous lessons, so that the skills become fully integrated into the young riders' experience. It's now obvious that Nyah not only loves tacking up the horses, riding, learning, then brushing them down after her lessons, but also has growing confidence that she can tackle big new challenges both in the rink and in her young life. Two weeks ago the horse she was riding spontaneously decided to canter. Nyah was surprised ( and so was Morgan) how she instinctively knew to lean forward, adapt to the different gait, and bring the horse back to a trot. She loved it and hopes to canter again as soon as Morgan determines that she's ready. This has been a great experience for both of us.

Chase Farms is a wonderful facility, not just for providing excellent training for young riders, but also for teaching the young riders not to be afraid of big challenges.
