Pierced my nose with a ring way too small the jewelry was digging into my nose. I now have an open circle of flesh surrounding the ring it's very painful. Going to see a professional tomorrow. For a guy who's been doing this for 20 years he claims, he shouldn't make mistakes this horrendous.

I love this shop! The vibe is ...

I love this shop! The vibe is good; the staff and owner are friendly and knowledgeable. I got my first real tattoo here after checking out some other local shops. I came back to Silver on the Mount because they impressed me as being rock solid (in business at the same location for 15 years.... that says a lot in a town where shops open and close before the paint is dry on the front door). I got exactly what I wanted at a good price. I had an exceptional experience and plan on going back for another tat real soon!

Very professional environment. Very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this location for anyone wanting a piercing. I've gotten 2 here and both have heeled perfectly with no pain. Although I was terrified the pain was nothing and it went by in a heart beat. :) I would come back without a doubt.

Regarding the apprenticeship @ SOTM

So I have recently read some very negative feed back on the apprenticeship position at Silver on the Mount Tattoo Studio. I will start by saying I am currently a tattoo/ piercing apprentice at said location and am closing in on my fifth month under Master tattoo artist and piercer Vince. The apprenticeship there is in all classifications an "old school" apprenticeship...it is not meant to be easy or looked at as a hand out to any (or would be) artist as an easy way to get in to the industry. It is the discretion of the master to first take you on and then to assess your progress to see if you can handle direction and criticism with an open-mind to learn the art in the proper fashion. Yes you do have to do all shop duties, the dishes...and YES cleaning the bathroom! This is not meant for you to be viewed as free labor but to teach you to get into the rhythm of how a shop is properly kept sterilized to ensure protection for the customer and the staff. It is a long and detailed process of learning but for myself personally, I would have it no other way. You must be willing to make great sacrifices to achieve your dreams and close doors till you reach your goals...I have and am well on my way to becoming a professional tattoo artist and not a scratch-er working from home. Any job you have you will never see eye to eye with your boss(or in this case, your master), but must respect their criticism - this is why they have earned the title MASTER! I had this opportunity many years ago but was unable to complete it due to many circumstances...years later (now) was given the opportunity to pursue my dream again, I did not hesitate to make whatever adjustments were necessary to chase the dream...it is as Vince says if you put this before everything else (including your ego) you will get it but falter even one bit and you shall lose it. I have endured many hardships and speed bumps down this road but am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel...I have just recently received my machines and am now practicing tattooing under the watchful eye of my teacher...it is a great feeling of achievement and patiently await my induction into my dream career. So for all those that read this understand the road to your dreams is never just handed to you on a silver platter...hard work and determination shall prevail...the apprenticeship process is meant to weed out the weak of fortitude and spirit...otherwise every so called artist could just pick up equipment and call themselves "tattoo artist". For those that did not make the cut please refrain from trying to smear the name and reputation of a man who is in all senses of the word a master and look upon your own short comings as to why you are no longer there. Thank you and hope this gives some positive insight into the false accusations posted here.

SOTM

I'd like to start off by saying that I have been apprenticing/tattooing with Vince for over 3 years. I beileve this trade/art has alot of people trying to get into the business for all of the wrong reasons. People lack the morals and traditions that come with this responsibility. And I say responsiblity because you are not only taking care of yourself but also your clients in a medical and sterile environment. Vince taught me from the 1st day how to not get myself or anyone else sick.

This is a real old school apprenticeship, which means you pay back your dues to your mentor and every little test or food run you do for him will be judged in great detail. You must prove to your mentor that you want this more than anything and that you are not getting into this for fame or a certain lifestyle.

Vince has been burned by apprentices in the past which I myself have witnessed. So he trys people out to see if they are truly wanting this. As with everything else in life, if you put it first you will get it, but it seems most want to be handed a machine and go at it right away. And that's why we have people scarcthing out of houses. He teaches you as a professional, he teaches gives you his experience so you can have a career and there are dues and a respect level to persue.

I've personally gone thru test and hardships to prove my loyalty and devotion to this shop. And this alone has made me have a fond respect for this art. And as far as not liking women or minorites I can't even acknowledge that because that is so far from the truth. I am grateful for my apprenticeship at Silver on the Mount Tattoo with Vince. I have earned and learned and am now a working professional in this industry.
