We never write reviews, but we really want this place to succeed. Hopefully they will work on correcting the following:

Physical plant: Heating and AC. Every time we go there it is either too hot or freezing. Yesterday after trying several tables to get out of the draft, we elected to sit outside, even though a storm was brewing, flies were biting, and the occasional whiff of manure from the landscaping and close traffic did not add to the dining experience.

Staff: Every time we come there is a different hostess and wait staff. And no one takes the time to properly train them! They are usually young, and want to please, but they don't know what they should know if they are going to work in a high end restaurant. No Merlot. Asked waiter what was next best thing that they had. He said he didn't know much about wine. Inexcusable! If they don't know, teach them! They really don't have that many choices on the wine list!

Ordered 3 appetizers. Were told Chef wanted entire order to come in together so he could properly time our dinner. Fine. Appetizers and soup came out together. We send the soup back. (Soup came without spoon.) There are no utensils on the table. Waiters seem flustered as to when they put what on table. Or they forget when they put the food out that there is nothing to eat it with.

Had to ask for bread. Tiny pieces brought out in a pint basket. No butter. Served about tablespoon of olive oil with a squirt of vinegar in it...for 3 people. Never refilled it.

One appetizer served on a board with a hole in it. (Artistic) Juice went through hole all over table. Had to ask a couple of times to wipe off table. Finally wiped only with dry cloth.

At this point our waiter disappeared. Our entrees were brought out by others. 1 out of 3 was not what we ordered.Sent it back. Told others to start eating so it wouldn't get cold...but they forgot the utensils again.

The food is very good and different. As I said, we want this place to succeed, but to do so they must spend some serious time addressing some of these glaring problems.

Lunch at the Cottage on Dixie in Flossmoor Il.

The Cottage on Dixie was a delightful ambience, The food was very fresh and prepared with great care. The taste was excellent. The menu was varied. My wife and I would highly recommend the Cottage to our close friends and family. We will be dining their again in the near future.
