Belton Industries is a specialty weaver of fabrics made primarily from polypropylene yarns. The company was founded in 1916 to remanufacture cotton bale wrap procured from local textile mills. From 1916 to 1997, the company s core business was providing packaging products for raw cotton and synthetic fibers. In 1997, the company s original fiber packaging business was sold to Leggett & Platt. Belton s operations are now separated into two divisions. The Specialty Fabrics division manufactures specialty woven polypropylene fabrics for proprietary industrial, agricultural and engineering applications. The International division is the trading arm of the company. It oversees all the firm s import/export activities and developed the company s leather accessories business. Belton Industries has its headquarters and primary manufacturing facility in Belton, S.C. It also maintains distribution centers and offices in Atlanta; Newport Beach and Hanford, Calif.; Calcutta, Madras; and New Delhi, India.
