Established in 1853, Protection Engine Company No. 3 is one of the oldest fire companies in the Honesdale Fire Department. It provides firefighting, fire prevention and emergency medical transportation services. The company conducts various training programs that focus on various areas, such as respiratory protection, incident command, rapid intervention, emergency vehicle operation, and the essentials and basics of vehicle rescue. Protection Engine Company No. 3 also houses the Honesdale Fire Museum, which showcases the Silsby steamer no. 483, fire prints, photographs, helmets, speaking trumpets and other early fire memorabilia.
