Legal Aid Society of Hawai`i is one of the oldest and largest nonprofit law firms in the state of Hawaii. Established in 1950, Legal Aid has more than nine offices throughout the state, and over 60 attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff. Legal Aid responds to inquiries from more than 19,000 individuals each year and over 10,000 individuals receive legal services ranging from advice and counsel to full representation. The organization primarily assists in the areas of family, housing, consumer and public benefits laws. It also provides assistance through a number of special projects, including tax assistance, homeowner counseling, a senior helpline and special services for the homeless. Its special projects include affordable lawyers project, center for equal justice, child support project, domestic violence project and a housing enforcement program. Legal Aid Society of Hawai`i is headquartered in Honolulu.
