Daiei USA, which is located in Honolulu, owns a small chain of niche retail store that specializes in fresh produce and Asian foods. Kozo Yamagishi is the chief executive officer for the 30-year-old Hawaiian retailer. The stores carry a wide assortment of Japanese, Korean and Chinese foods, as well as other Asian groceries. Yamagishi has expanded the merchandise that is flown from Japan. Daiei USA is a subsidiary of Daiei Japan. The Kaheka, Hawaii, store recently received a multimillion-dollar facelift. Daiei has also held Korean and Filipino festivals as promotional events to increase the awareness about its ethnic products.
