WHAT A JOKE!!!

This statement is on “Hawaiian Paradise Retreats” Reservation Agreement.

DON’T BE FOOLED BY WORDS…“Great properties. Great service. Great rates. Courteous treatment!”

In April 2013 I contacted Hawaiian Paradise Retreats to inquire about property rentals in Waikiki. Their reservation specialist “Jordan Meredith” took over a month to connect with me about their rentals. She continued to send emails back and forth intermediating about how busy she was and was unable to call me. I should have taken this as my first and only warning.
I have a kind and patient heart… not good in this business transaction.

It was not until May 29/13 that we finally made some head way about renting 2 suites in the Island Colony. I was booking rooms that would house 6 of us for one full month in Feb 2014.
After I was sent Reservation Agreement via email “Jordan Meredith” offered me a non-refundable Damage Waiver Insurance to replace the Security Deposit guaranteeing my reservation. I agreed. Filled out and signed Reservation Agreement and scanned and emailed back to her. She called me to say that she had received information and that everything was set for our vacation. Yeah!!!.... Not so.

It wasn’t until the end of November 2013 that the Broker “Suzanne Shuto” contacted me via email to say she has been trying to contact me repeatedly and wanted to know if I was still was coming to Hawaii in Feb 2014. Huh??? So I picked up phone and called her. She told me that the owner of one of these suites I rented has changed their mind and will be staying in it and I would have to find another suite somewhere else because she had no other suites to rent me. Are you kidding me??? She tells me less than 90 days before my travel date that the suite that I rented was not available in High Season and that I am now faced to find something else, somewhere else and “By the way do you still want the 2nd suite?” I asked her if it will fit all 6 of us. NO I don’t want it!!!

After filing a complaint with the Hawaii Better Business Bureau I waited for a response, a letter of apology, an acknowledgement of any kind. “Hawaiian Paradise Retreats” has now been rated with an -D Rating and I encourage all of you that have been slighted by them to report to the Hawaii Better Business Bureau so “Hawaiian Paradise Retreats” and “Suzanne Shuto”are held in account of their actions.

Ghetto! Terrible & scary place to stay! STAY AWAY!

A run down home that hasn't been updated in two decades! Many items have been repaired quick fix or jerry-rigged…very sloppy. There are some items that are bursting at the seams (i.e. bottom floor trim + tile in the bathroom). The first thing I noticed is that my allergies acted up during my stay...LOTS of dust! There are no outlets in the bathroom! The shower-head was broken upon arrival! The shower is the most run down ghetto looking shower you have ever been in. The water pools up inside and you have to use the squidgy to push it down the drain. Metal inside the shower is very rusted! When I was done showering, I grab for the towel only to discover that it had a mildew smell...very disgusting! I would venture to say that this place does not wash any towel that appear to be unused (hence the mildew). There are also tiny little ants that I always find on the bathroom counter & sink, as well as on the kitchen counter. Most of the outlets are only suitable for 2 prong cords! The toaster oven is a hit-and-miss. There is a couch-bed, but it is one of the worse beds I have ever slept on in my entire life! The mattress is super thin and worn down and you can feel the bed rods at different places (particular right on your lower back), which makes it very uncomfortable and nights full of tossing and turning. Most of the wallpaper walls are stained yellow. In fact, one night, I suddenly started smelling cigarette smoke in the tiny hall way. I could not figure out where it was coming from (not through a window, door, outside, vent, A/C, cabinet, etc.). It was just seeping into the tiny hallway and nowhere else…and it stank!!! Pigeons could be heard right outside the window. No ocean view (expected). Hotel is located in rundown part of Honolulu where there is a bar located at the front entrance; with a few scrubby looking people that hang about. This place is the epitome of being maintained by a slumlord.

Pros: A/C works, good supply of kitchen needs, stove, microwave, toaster oven, refrigerator, coffee pot. Beach umbrella, a beach chair, and two beach mats. Plenty of liens, toilet paper, and paper towels! Wireless internet! Electronic entry into hotel premises! Walking distance to a lot of places to eat.

I stayed for 8 days with my family of 5 and we paid just under $728 (or $91 per night) for a stay towards the end of May 2013. I would rather sleep in the street or my car before staying another night at this place and with Hawaiian Paradise Retreats!
