The Hopkins Public Works Department maintains the city's infrastructure, buildings and equipment and provides services to meet other essential needs of the city. In addition to develop city's infrastructure, it maintains athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, open skating, hockey rinks and Shady Oak Beach. The department also provides weekly automated refuse collection for residents, as well as recycling coordination for contract collection and recycling awareness campaigns. The Hopkins Public Works Department works through its six divisions: building and equipment services, engineering, parks and forestry, refuse and recycling, streets and traffic and water and utilities.
