Provided by YP.comHaving brought both my dogs to the Pet Lodge for grooming several times without complaints, I had to go out of town for several days for my graduate program in Washington DC and decided to board them there. I called and checked on my dogs daily and was told each time “they are eating well and doing good”.
The day I arrived to pick them up they had me pay prior seeing my dogs. As soon as I saw them I knew something was wrong. My female dog Sequoia had fecal matter on her and both dogs appeared to have lost weight and smelled very strongly like “dog”. They both also smelled strongly of urine. I had paid for Scout to have a bath and Sequoia to have a bath and be groomed. As I picked them up to place them in the car I noticed both their collars were fitting loose and they were appeared to be lighter.
We immediately went to the their vet to be weighted on the same scale that they had been weighted very recently and indeed both of my small dogs had lost weight. Scout and Sequoia had both lost approximately 1.5 pounds. That is approximately 8.8% of their body weight.
Sequoia was acting skittish and scared and slurped water in great amounts when she got home as if she had not had access to water. Sequoia also has runny/loose stools (Diarrhea).
The first night after I picked them up my other dog, Scout, developed very foul smelling explosive diarrhea indicative of a bacterial or parasite infection. Although both dogs are able to maintain their water intake and are able to urinate they both have lost weight are fearful and their health suffered as a result of the care they received by the staff at The Pet Lodge. I am highly dissatisfied and want to warn others to the neglect my dogs suffered at their hands.
I called and asked to speak to the manager and explained that I was not happy about the care my dogs received and went through my list of complaints. She immediately began to make excuses. I told her that I did not want an excuse but for her to rectify the situation and she asked, “What would you have me do”. I explained that having lived in multiple states and boarded my dogs in multiple states I had never had my dogs treated this way and was highly concerned about their state of health and wellbeing. She again began to make excuses. She even went as far to call me back and leave a voicemail where she stated “I am not making excuses” and then went into several “reasons” why the dogs were unkept and lost weight. At no point did she apologize or offer to look into the staff that cared for my dogs.
Given the fact there was no responsibility taken by the manager for the state of their health, they do not offer time to go to the bathroom after 1900 (7pm) and the gross physical state (urine and fecal matter on them) I would suggest you find an alternative place to board your dogs. If they treated human beings this way they would go to jail for intentional neglect!

Provided by YP.comSo, I brought my two dogs to the Pet Lodge over the weekend. My dog has to be dragged in the back because he hates staying here. The girls in the back are really sweet. However, the owner is never very friendly and her attitude is awful. One of my dogs had a cut on his ear so he was taking a pill from the vet twice a day. When the dogs were picked up they had charged me $1.00 PER pill. I have boarded with other places and never been charged to give a dog medicine. Also, my dog has a huge swollen inflamed paw he has not stopped licking since he was picked up. Never again will I bring my dogs to this place.

Provided by YP.comWe boarded our dogs at The Pet Lodge over Christmas and had them groomed before we picked them up. The place was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful even though they were very busy with the holiday rush. Our dogs were very happy and their hair cuts looked great when we picked them up. We'll never go anywhere else.

Provided by YPmobileA while back I took my dog to the pet lodge, because that's where she always went and was used to it. They shaved my pom like always. I guess someone new had shaved her. They told me she
did great, but I noticed there was blood in my car getting her out & into the house. There was a huge cut on her belly & when I asked for a refund they refused! Since then I have taken her to bed-n-buscuit where I worked for a little while. They always get her perfect & take excellent care of my baby. Never returning to the pet lodge!

Provided by YP.comWe take our dogs to the Pet Lodge for hair cuts about every two months and they always take great care of them. They even take them out so they can use the bathroom. We also board them a couple times a year and they take such good care of them that our dogs actually pull us in the door and try to run back to the kennel. I don't know what the ppl leaving bad reviews are talking about, they're probably from the competition.

Provided by YP.comI love, love, love the Pet Lodge in Hopkinsville, KY. It's clean as a whistle, they have a wonderful play room and take dogs out every 2 hours. Staff is so loving and friendly. (Let me just say that I am in no way connected to the Pet Lodge, I only board my dog there.) They have very stringent rules, making sure that all animals lodged there are up to date on all shots which makes for a safe place for my Greyhound, Bobby!
Bobby loves it there as well and can't wait to go inside. And, I feel they love my Bobby, too. Reasonable prices and love their day care for when I need to do some shopping. I highly recommend the Pet Lodge and will not leave my Bobby anywhere else.

Provided by YP.comLet me start by saying that my dog is MY CHILD... He is my precious baby. With that said when I took him in we received mediocre service, I was standing by the clothing when I heard one of the employee's yelling at a dog saying "I TOLD YOU TO SHUT UP NOW SHUT UP". We tried to order clothing and they never took our order. The guy (manager, owner, who ever he is) yelled at me because his dog doesn't like other dogs and my dog was sniffing his... THEN DON'T BRING YOUR DOG TO WORK WITH YOU WHEN YOU OWN AND RUN A DOG DAY CARE/GROOMING PLACE!!! I DO NOT recommend these people to take care of any animal. I also found 3 scratches on my dog that were NOT there before I dropped him off.
On the day this was posted one of our ex-employees came in. My suspecion is that she posted this in an effort to hurt our business. My dogs have not been to the kennel in a couple of months. We are complimented every day on our business and strive to give the best care available. We do not receive complaints and have a completely open facility that anyone can visit. I would recommend you visit and take a tour of our kennel. We do not allow our employees to ever say shut up to our dogs so this is untrue. As far as scratches on the pet, we examine the pet before leaving and let the owner know if there are any problems. We have nothing to hide so please ask if you have questions.

Provided by YP.comI have 2 dogs that I leave for daycare and for boarding. The Pet Lodge is just what Hopkinsville needed. The dogs love this place and go right to the kennel area when we walk in the door. You can really tell they love dogs. I would not leave mine anywhere else. They leave the door open to the boarding area so you can always see them. The tour was great.

Provided by YP.comWhen I came in and started filling out forms I kept trying to tell the person behind the desk specific feeding instructions for my kitten, who has a severe food intolerance, and he was preoccupied talking to other people and not tending to me. I wrote out all of the instructions on the form you fill out when you get there, and gave them the specific food my kitten needs to eat. It took me months to get this specific diet to work. When my husband picked them up after our trip, they told us they feed them other food and that they seemed to like it. Needless to say, my kitten is sick all over again. I am so upset with them. They could kill your pet if it has a specific diet do not bring them to this place.
UPDATE: Upon seeing my review, the Pet Lodge has refunded me my money. Although the letter they sent had many inacurracies, trying to blame me for their mistakes. Thanks.
Mr & Mrs Machado's kittens were very sweet and we had a good time playing with they so it is unfortunate that they had a problem with us because we would have loved to keep them again. Unfortunately they also did not note any condition of any kind on the boarding form concerning their kitten having any problem with dry food. There is a specific section that asks if there is any medical conditions or specific instructions for our customers to document and many of our costomers pets have either medication or special conditions that they all note on the document we specifically designed for this reason. When their kitten did not eat well, I pulled the form and it did not say they could not have dry food so I myself gave her kittens dry food. Some animals cannot have wet food but we have not ever heard of any not able to eat dry so they definately had a special condition which they should have put on the form. It was an unfair statement that they made and we have never lost any pets here. We have a huge aquarium in our cat room for the cats to look at and we have lost a few of our own fish over the last couple of years but never anyone's pet. All of our staff loves animals more than you can ever imagine and love our jobs and it shows. All you have to do is come in and see for yourself. You will not find a place in this area that takes care of animals they way they do. It is unfortunate that they had a problem with us because we loved their kittens as well but they should admit they made a mistake in the document. We are all pet CPR trained and would never purposely cause any discomfort to an animal. We are qualified to give shots, medication, special diets and extra care. We keep blind pets and many special needs animals as well. We give tours and leave the kennel area open so everyone can see how we take care of them. Where else will your pet go outside over 5 times a day and stay in a room not a cage. I did send this customer a copy of their boarding form showing they did not fill it out properly and refunded their money. They are the only customers that have expressed dissatisfaction with our boarding service. We also have many customers that state they would never leave their pet anywhere else.
