Avon F., We are very sorry that you had a bad experience filling out an application. It is a simple 3 page form that is required of anyone who wishes to adopt.



We use this application to insure that our rescued dogs are going to the most appropriate and secure homes and that the people who are wanting to adopt are responsible pet owners. Some of our dogs receive 15 or 20 applications. They are not marked as adopted until a contract is signed.



Also, once your application is approved, it is approved for any dog in our program. We have a very good success rate for adoptions - averaging 10 a week. If the dog you were wanting to adopt was not available, rest assured that it was adopted to the best family possible.

Absolutely horrible. I wasted nearly an hour filling out a form to adopt a dog that wasn't even available. Either they do a very poor job of updating what animals are up for adoption or they are flat out liars. Not worth dealing with.

I've fostered through 4 different Houston organizations over the past 2 years, and while none of them are perfect, my experience with AARF has been excellent. Especially considering the staff to foster ratio! Cindy Fitz, Micki D., Cindy H., and Steph Mashburn have all been easy to work with. AND my two fosters with AARF were adopted into great homes! I was glad that as the foster I got the final say on the adopter.
