CUSTOMER HARASSMENT AT BAILEY’S HOUSE OF GUNS - I give it a zero rating !

I got harassed by a woman while I was snapping a few pictures of the peacocks at the range. I was told that the property owners do not mind people photographing these birds that run free on the range. But today a woman who appeared to be a girlfriend of one of the store clerks told me to stay away from HER (?) property and HER (?) house. My husband often comes here and spends quite a bit of money. He bought $400 worth of merchandize today. But, since we are not welcome there any more, it was our LAST visit to the Baileys’ House of Guns.

The worst range in the area. I have tried to get resolution to bad gunsmithing/customer service for two years and was banned for yet again trying to get a resolution. People should not pay to be treated like crap to shoot at a run down range that only goes up in fees with know range improvements in twenty years.

HEY PEOPLE CHECK OUT VAN ROAD GUN RANGE

I will start this with, " I have never reviewed anything online". The only reason I am doing this is because of the "Guy" that wrote the long bad review.

I took 2 rifles to Bailey's House of Guns yesterday to sight in the scopes that I had just put on these guns. I had a wonderful experience. The staff was very helpful and the range is just fine for shooting.

I got there shortly after 9 am and it was not busy yet. At 10 am there were more people there and it was getting full when I left at 11.

I had to have them bore sight one of my rifles, some how my boresight job only worked on one rifle. I took the gun inside paid my $6 and they did the job in less than 5 minutes. For some reason their boresight didn't work the first time and I had to take it back in for a re-do. They were not bothered by this at all. The lady, Shirley I believe, did the second bore sight job and asked the range boss to watch me shoot to see if it was user error. It was on paper the second time and he made sure that I knew where it was hitting and helped me make the necessary adjustments.

If you are looking for ultra modern amenities, go somewhere else. The rest of us like this place just the way it is. If you want to shoot your guns with some nice people, and not gripe about trivial stuff come on out and join us.

I will be a regular here. Thanks to all the staff.

One word 26REINVEST. From the l...

One word…REINVEST. From the landfill they call a shooting range to the shanty-shack cluttered with filth and opened merchandise re-hung but not re-packaged…or re-priced appropriately. From the disinterested chubby kid that acts like a spoiled grandchild behind the counter to the disinterested Hispanic male who thinks staying on the phone is more important than helping customers standing in front of him…REINVEST. The first thing you see when you walk into Bailey’s House of Guns is a bunch of trophy animals. Now typically this would excite a hunter but these are filthy and stacked in a corner with no rhyme or reason and it is depressing to think their fate was to end up here. No appreciation. This is indicative of the company itself. I went in to sight a few rifles recently and here was my experience:

I went to their dirty and disorganized shop and walked up to the counter where a nice black man was helping a customer. The old woman was making a gun sale and the chubby kid was walking around doing nothing. The black man assisted me in every way once he was finished with his customer. He was very nice. You could tell that the entire shop laid the burden of customer service on him. He did his best and it was fine. He set me up for the range and I went out the door thinking that the chubby kid should pick up a broom.

The Range Master was very nice. His range, on the other hand, was ridiculous. You do not set your target up. It is already set up and waiting. We were not allowed to go get our targets when we were done because there is never a shooting break. What kind of nonsense is that? The owner has trashy wooden tables with trashy stools and NOT A GUN RACK IN SIGHT. I had to find places to lay my extra rifles down. Thankfully (but not surprisingly) the rest of the range was empty so I laid my rifles on the surrounding lane tables. They have these crappy canvas bags that you are supposed to use but they have no sand in them. If you are lucky, you might find one with a little sand left. Completely unprofessional. So I make due.

I needed one of my rifles bore sighted so I went back inside the shop. Although there were no additional customers, I still had to wait until the nice black man emerged from the back of the store before I was helped. Chubby kid was just sitting around (still no broom). He directed the chubby kid to bore sight my rifle. Chubby grumbled, put a pissed off look on his face, proceeded to grab my rifle and stomped off to the back. He emerged about 45 seconds later. “You get 1 shot. If it’s not on paper, bring it back inside. ONE SHOT.” OK. One shot. Got it. Well, not surprisingly, it wasn’t on paper. I brought it back inside, waited for another 5 minutes while the black man assigned the bore sight to a Hispanic male who was chatting on the phone. I stood in front of him with my rifle for at least 10 minutes until I finally went back to the black man and asked if HE would bore sight it. He immediately went over to the Hispanic male and motioned for him to wrap it up and bore sight my gun. He did. I took my rifle back outside and it was on paper finally.

I will NEVER return Bailey’s House of Guns. There are PLENTY of gun ranges who care about helping customers and show it by keeping their stores updated, their ranges in working order and their staff in check. If you do go to this outdated hole in the wall, keep your expectations well below average and don’t let the chubby kid bore sight your gun. It just ain't worth it.

Bailey's is a old fashioned family business that really does care about folks that come in. Staff will bend over backwards to keep you happy if they can. Some of them can be a little tough to know or crochety but that works to your benefit when you are shooting on a range with a lot of youngsters who are new to guns and don't know gun safety yet. The safety rules are enforced. Even though I do not personally agree with the single load rule I will not go to a range where gun safety is not enforced by the rangemaster. If you violate a gun safety rule Mrs. Bailey will personally make you wish you didn't and that is not a pretty sight believe me. Their prices are reasonable, not internet prices and don't expect too much for that trade. There are other places in Houston that thrive on used guns. Best: they will fix that nonworking gun you bought somewhere else long after the other store gives up on you. Sometimes for free.

Great Experience.

Been there 5 times now (in a month) and have always walked away happy. Their range fees are the cheapest around, most of the staff are very polite and informative, and safety is rule #1 out there. I plan on making more trips out there in the future.
