Congregation Beth Yeshurun, based in Houston, adheres to the philosophy of conservative Judaism offering several programs for men, women, youth, children and seniors. These include adult education, tot Shabbat and junior Shabbat, Adat Shalom, bar and bat mitzvah, Torah study, Dor L Dor and family Havdalah. The temple also provides babysitting for families who attend services on Shabbat morning. The social action group of the synagogue offers a range of programs that include Saint Joseph s food pantry, Jewish community center meals on wheels, interfaith ministries kids meals, adult literacy program and grocery donation program. The Beth Yeshurun Day School provides general and Judaic studies curriculum emphasizing upon Jewish traditions, ethical and moral values, citizenship and community responsibilities.

This is a great synagogue with an extremely involved and caring community. It is affiliated with a great school that provides a wonderful secular and Judaic education. This is also the largest conservative synagogue in the country. It's beautiful yet still warm and inviting.

As far as what Johnny T said, yes there is security, but I have never encountered or seen ANYONE be questioned about whether they were Jewish or not. Additionally, judging by the date, he may have visited during the High Holy Days, which comes with increased security and a limited amount of seats.

The services are beautiful and the Rabbis and Cantor...and the rest of the staff are very welcoming and friendly.
