Provided by YP.comI turned in a deposit, and app. fee a month before our lease was up in our previous apartment, and was assured the apartment would be ready by the 20th of March when we were supposed to move in. When I went to sign the lease and pick up the keys, I was asked to look at it before signing anything because of a stain in the middle bedroom. I said sure, went to look, and not only was there a nice sized stain in the middle bedroom in the middle of the carpet, but two others, and one in the living room. But that's not all.... There was a hole in the hallway, water stains on the bottom of the walls all the way around in the middle bedroom, a wad of caulk (golf ball sized) on the sink, that they just painted over instead if got up and fixed. The closet door in the middle room would not open unless force was used; same to close it. Food stains on the walls in the kitchen, and sticky stuff on the patio door. This was just the major things wrong with it. I told them no thanks, and that I wanted my deposit back. Then it was time to run in circles.... first I had to wait to speak with the "manager", who handels deposit refunds, and would be in the next day...ok, I waited and came back, only to be told that she was not the manager, we cannot have the deposit back, because we didn't pay one, (it's a shame for them I still had my copies of the money orders, as do they. First was told we could not have a copy of the application, then when someone was brought in to the conversation to hear her say we could not have a copy of the application, all of a sudden it was ok. I asked for the property owners name, and was told that by law I couldn't have it. ("It's a matter of public record"- attorney general) Then I was told to wait to the following Monday until the REAL manager came in. Surprise surprise, she was not there and now won't be in until next thursday. I am currently going through HAA & BBB to get my deposit back, the attorney general said if that didn't work we will go to court. I did not sign a lease, they lied to us, and their own application proves my case, not theirs. If this is the job they did on a scheduled make-ready, then I can't imagine how a rush job would look!!?!! The "manager" said the only thing wrong with the apartment was the stain (which I have pictures of), and it was not bad enough to replace the carpet. If they thought that was liveable on purpose, then I would hate to see how their house or apartment looks. I got no apartment, no deposit, a bunch of lies and stalling, and they still won't give it back. I guess next step is court.
